vivo Introduces OriginOS 7 Bringing Smoother Performance, Smarter Multitasking and AI-Powered Experiences

vivo has introduced OriginOS 7, its latest smartphone operating system designed to make every day smartphone use smoother, smarter and more connected. The new operating system brings together improved performance, flexible multitasking through Origin Workbench, cross-ecosystem connectivity, Jovi as a personal AI agent, and new ways for users to personalize their smartphones.

OriginOS 7 has been designed around everyday tasks such as moving information between apps, finding documents, sharing photos and managing work across different devices. vivo says the new system is built to deliver a smooth experience not only when a device is new, but throughout years of daily use.

At the heart of OriginOS 7 is the new Origin Smooth Engine, which improves the way the smartphone manages processing power, memory and graphics. vivo says this results in a 10% reduction in app cold-start time and an 11% improvement in app page switching. Memory Fusion also improves memory management, with vivo reporting 60% greater memory reclamation and up to 25GB of additional storage freed on a 256GB device. Dual Rendering further improves rendering efficiency by 14.4%, helping create smoother animations and richer visuals. These figures are based on vivo laboratory tests and actual performance may vary depending on the device, environment and usage.

OriginOS 7 also introduces Origin Workbench, giving users a new way to manage several tasks on one smartphone. Users can coordinate up to five active applications within one task space, making it easier to move between activities such as editing high-resolution video, checking notes, finding information and communicating with others. Origin Workbench is available on specific devices with 12GB of RAM or more, while features such as cross-app drag-and-drop depend on app compatibility and device or regional availability.

vivo has also focused on keeping the system smooth over time. OriginOS 7 uses a new approach to memory allocation, system optimization and aging management, supported by 72-month anti-aging test in vivo laboratories. On supported devices, the company says this is designed to help maintain the responsive experience users have from day one for up to six years of daily use.

The new operating system also changes how movement and interaction feel on the phone. Origin Animation uses physics-inspired motion to make swipes, taps and transitions feel more natural. Fluid Motion allows interface elements to respond to the speed and direction of a user's touch, while Spring Animation creates a consistent sense of movement across the system. Seamless Interaction is designed to make scrolling feel continuous across supported system and third-party applications.

OriginOS 7 also makes it easier to connect a vivo smartphone with other devices. Through Cross-Ecosystem Connectivity, supported devices can work with products users may already own, including Apple Watch, AirPods, iPad, Mac and Windows devices. Apple Watch users on supported devices can receive notifications and sync selected health and workout data with the Origin Health app, while AirPods can connect with supported vivo devices and provide battery information through Origin Island.

Through vivo Office Kit, users can also move tasks, notes and files between supported vivo smartphones and iPad, Mac or Windows devices. Supported users can access photos and files stored in iCloud directly through vivo File Manager, making it easier to manage content across devices. Another major addition is Jovi, vivo's personal AI agent. Jovi is designed to help users complete tasks across connected smartphones and computers. For example, a user can ask Jovi to retrieve a spreadsheet from a connected computer, summarize key information and deliver the results to the smartphone. Jovi can also be used to schedule certain tasks, such as compiling regular reports or organizing files.

OriginOS 7 also introduces Snap Note, which uses intelligent recognition to turn photographs of whiteboards, handwritten notes and presentation slides into editable, formatted documents. To give users more control over AI actions, Jovi Security records autonomous actions and requires user authorization for key steps. Jovi features are available only on supported devices and in selected countries, regions and languages, and AI-generated content is for reference only.

Beyond performance and productivity, OriginOS 7 gives users more ways to make their smartphones personal. Wiggle Theme turns personal photos into interactive designs that respond to touch, while Glint Theme uses the phone's gyroscope to create changing light and shadow effects as the device moves. StickIt allows users to create layered photo collages across the lock screen, home screen and Always-On Display, while Pet Pals introduces interactive companion themes that respond to device movement, charging, music playback and changes between day and night.

The OriginOS 7 Preview Program begins on September 21, 2026, for the vivo X300 Pro and selected iQOO devices in India, Thailand and Malaysia. OriginOS 7 will subsequently be available on the X500 series, the new X Fold and V series.
