1. What are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. Cookies enable you to personalize your experience on our sites, remember your preferences for a certain period of time, and help us improve the effectiveness of ads and web searches. Cookie store information that is related to the specific terminal device used. This does not mean, however, that we obtain immediate knowledge of your identity. The content of a cookie can be retrieved and read only by the server that created the cookie.
We may use other Cookie-like technologies, such as pixels or web beacons, for the purposes that cookies enable. Pixels on our website also deliver information read from your device to our servers and/or third-party servers to analyze usage of our services, or to provide content and advertisements that are more relevant to you. These pixels are categorized and managed in the same way as cookies. For the purposes of this policy, we refer to all of the above technologies collectively as "Cookies".
We will do our best to avoid collecting information (such as names, phone numbers, email addresses, GPS coordinates or other precise locations, etc.) that could be used on its own to directly identify, contact or precisely locate an individual through cookies or similar technologies. However, we normally need to collect pseudonymous end user identifiers (such as pseudonymous cookie IDs, pseudonymous advertising IDs, etc.), IP addresses, and other basic information about devices/browsers.
2. Cookies: Types, Categories, and Purposes of Use
We categorize two different types of cookies as follows:
a) First-Party Cookies
First-party Cookies are placed by the website you are visiting itself, more precisely on the website’s domain. Almost all websites must use First-party Cookies to ensure the smooth provision of the website and its features. The information stored in First-party Cookies can only be read by the website you are visiting.
b) Third-Party Cookies
2.2 Categories and Purposes of Use
Cookies can be divided into four categories based on different purposes:
a) Strictly Necessary Cookies
These are cookies that are required for the operation of our website and other service offerings. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of our website; without these cookies, we cannot offer you services, such as shopping baskets and displaying website information.
b) Functionality Cookies
These cookies are used to recognize you when you return to our website or log into our other service offerings. For instance, we may store your geographic location in a cookie to ensure that we show you the localized website that is customized to your region. This enables us to personalize our content for you, greet you by name, and remember your preferences.
c) Analytic/Performance Cookies
These cookies allow us to recognize and count visitors and visitor sources and to see how visitors navigate through our website and other service offerings, such as to see which pages you visit most, so as to help us improve the way our website and other service offerings work. We use, without limitation, Google Analytics ("GA"), Contentsquare ("CS"), and similar Analytic/Performance Cookies to achieve such purpose.
As Google has stated, the information generated by GA cookies will normally be stored on Google servers and your IP address will be shortened by Google beforehand. In exceptional cases only, your full IP address will be transmitted to Google servers and shortened there. On our behalf, Google will use this information for the purpose of compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. The IP address transmitted from your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be associated with any other data held by Google. For more information, please visit the Help Center of GA at https://support.google.com/analytics/#topic=1008008.
The retention period of Analytic/Performance Cookies varies typically from as short as the duration you browse the webpages up to 13 months, depending on the individual purpose of the cookie.
d) Targeting Cookies
These cookies record your visit to our website and other service offerings, the pages you have visited, and the links you have followed. We will use this information to make our website, other service offerings, or advertisements more relevant to your interests. We may also share this information with our carefully selected third parties for this purpose, such as TikTok, Google, and Twitter.
e) Other Cookies
These cookies are from third parties and are non-essential.
