vivo has officially unveiled its X60 Pro 5G flagship smartphone in Europe. The new member of the vivo X Series features a vivo ZEISS co-engineered imaging system, which enables consumers to take outstanding pictures and videos. The jointly developed camera system brings exceptional image sharpness and clarity to vivo smartphones and meets the stringent imaging quality standards of ZEISS. The X60 Pro 5G is the first smartphone launched as part of the strategic partnership between vivo and ZEISS, announced in December 2020.

“We are excited and proud to launch our latest model for European customers – the vivo X60 Pro 5G. This is the first vivo smartphone co-engineered with ZEISS available in Europe, and an outstanding new device that clearly demonstrates how the results from our collaboration with this pioneer in optoelectronics comes to life. The partnership with ZEISS shows our commitment of always putting the camera first, and how we empower creativity for the perfect shot,” highlighted Denny Deng, Vice President, President of European Business at vivo.

Photography redefined with advanced imaging features

The key to the new smartphone’s top-notch photography capabilities lies in the vivo ZEISS co-engineered imaging system. The X60 Pro 5G has three rear cameras; the primary 48 Megapixel main sensor is paired with a 13MP super wide angle and a 13MP portrait lens to offer outstanding image quality. A front facing 32MP camera rounds off the device’s selfie-capturing capabilities. In addition to the technical improvements such as a refinement of the gimbal, introduced in last year’s vivo X51 5G, the software has been optimised for improved user experience.  vivo and Zeiss have also recreated the iconic ZEISS Biotar Portrait Style for the X60 Pro 5G, replicating the familiar sharp portraits with a swirly bokeh effect, spurring a sense of positive nostalgia in photography enthusiasts and professionals alike.

The new top-of-the range phone from vivo also features the new Pixel Shift Ultra HD Imaging Technology, which enhances accuracy, especially in colours, details and zoom sharpness. With Pixel Shift Ultra HD Imaging, vivo applies technology previously only seen in professional SLR cameras to smartphone photography, helping users get their perfect shot by capturing more accurate RGB information, increased details and reducing moiré and false colours’ capture.

“After the successful launch of the X60 Pro 5G with vivo ZEISS co-engineered imaging system in Asian markets we are very pleased that now consumers in Europe can also enjoy leading-edge mobile imaging with vivo’s flagship smartphone,” added Jörg Schmitz, Head of ZEISS Consumer Products. “ZEISS has been pioneering imaging for more than 130 years. Building upon this unique expertise and bundling forces in the joint imaging lab with vivo as strategic partner will enable innovations for next level mobile imaging experience.”

The X60 Pro 5G also comes equipped with the all-new Gimbal Stabilisation System 2.0. Building on last year’s four-axis optical image stabilisation solution, the 2.0 version now boasts a five-axis video stabilisation system, giving consumers the power to take clear shots of objects in motion. Whether in an electrified stadium or in the grandstand at the Grand Prix, X60 Pro 5G users will capture high quality images without having to worry about holding their device steady.

For those looking to practice their photography skills late into the night, the Extreme Night Vision 2.0 feature combines a large aperture f/1.48 lens as well as an innovative AI noise reduction algorithm to record incredible detail in low light situations with just a single tap. Additionally, the Super Night Portrait feature for backlit photos brightens the subject without overexposing the background, while the Panorama Night Mode significantly improves brightness and purity of panoramic splices in low-light scenes.

Flagship performance and ultra-thin design

In addition to professional grade photography capabilities, the X60 Pro 5G supports 5G connectivity for fast data transfers and low latency. The phone runs on the Qualcomm® Snapdragon 870 platform and features a 6.56-inch edge-to-edge flexible Ultra O AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate* and 240Hz response rate, contributing to a fast and smooth user experience. Additionally, its display houses a 3.96mm front camera punch hole cantered at the top and is certified as an SGS Eye Care Display with HDR10+ capabilities providing high clarity and rich, and immersive visuals while reducing eye strain after long periods of use.

The all-new device has carried over the design language and elegance of its predecessor, the X51 5G, with a sleek silhouette rounded off with a “choker” top bezel. It’s available in Midnight Black, weighing 177g with an ultra-thin body of just 7.59mm. The rear cameras are also encased within a new dual tone step layout which is designed to make the device as ergonomic as possible.

The vivo X60 Pro 5G is enhanced not only by the expertise of ZEISS but their sister company SCHOTT. Belonging to the Carl Zeiss foundation, one of the largest private foundations providing scientific funding in Germany, and makers of speciality glass, SCHOTT is bringing its most innovative cover glass Xensation® Up to vivo high-end smartphones. SCHOTT has successfully developed this high-performance cover glass, designed to increase the likelihood of a phone surviving drops. The Lithium Alumino-Silicate (LAS) glass has been recognized as one of the most durable and reliable glass cover types currently available worldwide. In drop tests, Xensation® Up can survive drops from up to six times the height of conventional alumino-silicate glass.

The vivo X60 Pro 5G will be available in the UK on June 3rd, at a suggested retail price of £749.00. It’s worth noting that the device comes with a two-year warranty and, as part of vivo’s commitment to consumers, the company will be offering regular Android OS and security updates, during a course of three years. This ensures all X60 Pro 5G users get the software support that lives up to their expectations and allows them to enjoy a premium smartphone experience for an extended period. vivo has proven its commitment to customers, as one of the first companies in Europe to update its entire European product range to Android 11, by January 2021.
