Q:How do you understand the role of consumer research in the field of industrial design?
A: I think product design has the power to build a sense of trust between enterprises and consumers. In the early stage of design, I incorporate a great amount of market research and user research. I then simultaneously analyze vivo's technical advantages and supply chain advantages and extract creative elements from them to integrate the advantages into our product design. User research is the eyes and ears of vivo, and it occurs in every aspect of design. We stick to the "user-driven" design concept, which is the DNA of vivo design.

Q: How do you understand vivo's design concept of "simplicity, elegance, and perfection"?
A:I think simplicity and elegance are the basic design practices. Perfection is more demanding. Perfection means constantly looking for the optimal solution, which is the pursuit of design and scientific thinking. The environment is changing and technology is advancing, so the optimal solution must also be evolving. We must continue pursuing the optimal solution in our ever-changing environment, while still maintaining the basics of elegance and simplicity.

Q:What challenges have you encountered at work?
A: When I was starting out in my career, I was very subjective about much of my work. Now, I judge things from a more objective standpoint and think more comprehensively about factors such as user experiences, production challenges and cost.

A: I think the biggest challenge is dealing with different voices and different aesthetic requirements for design, both from within the company and from our users. This is a process that every designer should experience, and the different opinions always help me develop new ideas for future innovations. The biggest reward is the love that users have for the product. They can use our design products comfortably and easily, which is what our team of designers strive for.

Q:During your time at vivo, which design innovation has most impressed you?
A:As an employee who has witnessed the continuous development of vivo' s industrial design, I am very proud of how far we've come. I think daring to try makes life worth living, and that spirit is conveyed in the motivation behind vivo's design. In 2017, vivo successfully developed a new polycarbonate process - the NCL process (NCVM coating laser), which offered a perfect solution to fix poor texture in traditional polycarbonate. The NCL process not only optimized texture but also improved visual effects.
